Program Overview

Cisco Enterprise Networking

Learn network security fundamentals including Cisco ASA firewalls, IPsec VPNs, intrusion prevention systems, and AAA access governance.

Official Certification Track: This curriculum prepares candidates directly for the Cisco Network Security & CyberOps Associate examination. Instruction incorporates real-world scenario troubleshooting, architectural best practices, and enterprise security compliance.

Curriculum & Course Outline

5 Intensive Hands-on Modules designed for mastery:

Module 1: Modern Network Security Concepts & Threat Landscapes

Part 01

Analyze threat vectors, attacker methodologies, and foundational defense-in-depth principles.

  • Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability (CIA) triad in enterprise networks
  • Common attack vectors: Man-in-the-Middle, Spoofing, Denial of Service (DoS/DDoS)
  • Security policy formulation, risk mitigation, and compliance frameworks
  • Symmetric and asymmetric encryption, digital signatures, and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI)

Module 2: Securing Cisco Network Infrastructure & Layer 2 Defense

Part 02

Harden routing and switching control and management planes.

  • Cisco IOS device hardening: SSHv2, banners, password encryption, and Role-Based CLI views
  • Layer 2 mitigation: Port Security with sticky MAC, DHCP Snooping, Dynamic ARP Inspection (DAI)
  • Control Plane Policing (CoPP) and route authentication for routing protocols
  • Securing administrative access with AAA using TACACS+ and RADIUS servers

Module 3: Cisco IOS Zone-Based Policy Firewalls (ZFW)

Part 03

Configure stateful packet inspection directly on enterprise Cisco edge routers.

  • Security zones definition, zone-pairs, and default inter-zone policies
  • Class maps for protocol matching and parameter maps for session timeouts
  • Policy maps deploying inspect, pass, and drop actions
  • Troubleshooting ZFW session tables and connection state tracking

Module 4: Cisco ASA Adaptive Security Appliance Deployment

Part 04

Master dedicated hardware firewall architecture, routing, and access control.

  • Cisco ASA architecture, interfaces, and Security Levels (0 to 100)
  • Cisco Adaptive Security Device Manager (ASDM) initialization and setup
  • Configuring Access Control Lists (ACLs) and Network Object Groups on the ASA
  • Network Address Translation (NAT) types on the ASA: Auto-NAT, Manual NAT, and Twice-NAT

Module 5: Virtual Private Networks (VPN) — IPsec & AnyConnect SSL

Part 05

Establish encrypted communications for site-to-site backbones and mobile remote workers.

  • IPsec architecture: IKE Phase 1 (ISAKMP) and IKE Phase 2 (IPsec transform sets)
  • Site-to-Site IPsec VPN tunnel configuration and debug verification
  • Cisco AnyConnect SSL VPN configuration on the Cisco ASA
  • Clientless SSL VPN portals and split tunneling configurations
Physical Lab Infrastructure

100% Hands-on Hardware & Real Equipment

Cisco ASA 5500 Series Firewalls, Cisco Router Security (Zone-Based Firewalls), IPsec Site-to-Site Tunnels & AnyConnect SSL VPNs

Physical Consoles Dedicated student console access to enterprise Cisco routers and switches
Troubleshooting Labs Configured fault scenarios to build realistic diagnostic muscle memory
Extended Lab Access Extra lab hours available for practice outside regular lecture times

Key Learning Outcomes

Upon graduation, you will confidently execute the following competencies in enterprise environments:

Deploy and configure Cisco ASA stateful firewalls using CLI and ASDM graphic management.

Build resilient IPsec site-to-site VPN tunnels connecting enterprise head offices to branches.

Enforce centralized administrative access authentication with TACACS+ and RADIUS protocols.

Deploy Cisco IOS Zone-Based Policy Firewalls (ZFW) to inspect and restrict inter-zone network traffic.

Harden Layer 2 switched networks against MAC flooding, VLAN hopping, and ARP spoofing.
